I have been working in the Home Office style for the last two years. Especially because of this corona virus, people began to create workspaces in their own homes. It has always been my workplace at home in the past decade. When we say workspace, we can actually talk about a computer table and the equipment on it. Now, this area is insufficient as I increase the number of monitors. I have to position my new desk in a room of 9.24 square meters so that it works efficiently. That’s why I designed this as every engineer 🙂
Assessing the Current
Although it is a table layout planning, the condition of the room is of great importance. I work on an area of 9.24 square meters. Therefore, I have to evaluate every area efficiently.
First, I took a picture of my room. I realized that I used the room inefficiently.
I obtained the 3d image with the dimensions of the room. In this way, I determined what kind of a table size should be compared to my study room before realizing my project.
I think success is directly proportional to the field of work that is used efficiently. You may experience problems such as not being able to gather your attention as a narrow workspace cannot offer a regular environment while doing your studies.
My work desk covers almost the entire 27-inch monitor and laptop, and since it will be added on the second 27-inch monitor, I will need a minimum length of 160cm. However, when devices such as Xbox, printer and browser are added to this, the length should increase. My current table is 120cm long.
Tools and devices that I will use;
- 1 piece 27 inch monitors
- 1 pieces printer
- 1 pieces scanner
- 1 pieces laptop
- 1 pieces Xbox One
- 1 pieces Dual speakers
- 1 external hard disk
- External laptop space and book reading, an additional desk area where I will write my notes.
Devices that I can add in the future;
I am working on a 27 inch monitor connected to a laptop. I will connect the second 27 inch monitor. In my future plan, I have 1 pc case and third 27 inch monitor plan to switch to desktop computer. The more screens for a developer, the faster it means to work. I will buy a pc case even if I don’t buy a third monitor. But it will not be a gaming computer.

Evaluating Alternatives
When the space you work is not enough, you give up some things when you place a seat to sit.
In this way, when I position, the seats provide a comfortable space, but the size of my table is insufficient due to the system requirements.
Evaluating the Result
I have tried numerous positioning alternatives. I will use two different tables in an L-shaped form. The small table will be 150cmx60cm and the large table will be 200cmx80cm.
Placing a double seat would create dead space so I thought a small seat.
The legs of the table will have an iron skeleton that will not be wooden. The table will not have upper and lower eyes. It will have a simple structure. There will be cable channels under the table. I will also use a monitor riser.
After determining the table dimensions, I will prepare a specification containing information on how the table is made of materials.
